CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES WORKER Position # 00012 (Verona office) Salary: $36,517
Duties and Responsibilities: This is a professional position. The incumbent will receive referrals and investigate cases of suspected child abuse and neglect to determine appropriate action; develop service plans; maintain records and files and prepare reports. Incumbent will interview children, parents, neighbors, school personnel, counselors and others to determine urgency of situation and appropriateness of referrals; exercising authority to take custody of children when necessary. The incumbent performs work with specific ancillary agencies such as juvenile and domestic relations courts and law enforcement agencies. The incumbent maintains records through the course of clients' service relationships with the agency and prepares cases and testifies in court proceedings as required.
Education and Experience Required: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in social work, psychology or related field and considerable experience in social work.
Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia and acceptable background checks are required. Applicant must be willing to work outside of normal business hours.
Bilingual skills helpful.
