When You Start to Build

Be sure your building is set back from all property lines and streets the proper distance. The following inspections are required during construction:

Building:

  • Footing, prior to placing concrete. Grade stakes must be in place.
  • Framing, prior to interior covering. Marriage wall connections on modulars. Above ceiling on commercial.
  • Note: All rough-ins must be complete before framing can be inspected.
  • Note: All foundation walls, including decks, must be 10 feet from septic tank.
  • Sprinkler system & related piping.
  • Final, when building is complete and ready to occupy.

Plumbing: 

  • Ground Work, before floor is poured.
  • Rough-In, before any work is covered. Water or air test required.
  • Water & sewer lines when on public utilities.
  • Final when fixtures are set and connections made.

Electrical: 

  • Temporary service.
  • Ground work before ditch is covered or floor is poured.
  • Rough-In before any work is covered. Above ceiling on commercial.
  • Service before permanent elec. service is connected.
  • Final when service is connected and building is complete.

Mechanical: 

  • Duct work installed. Above ceiling on commercial.
  • Gas Line.
  • Final, when heating & air conditioning units ready for operation.
  • Commercial range hoods & hood suppression systems.

Note: Inspections must be requested no later than 4:00 PM the working day before. Time of day for inspection is not guaranteed.
