The County of Augusta is accepting applications for a Building Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Management Department.
Essential Functions:
Safety – utilize safety equipment, promote safety awareness for maintenance staff and others, attend safety classes as required, and be familiar with OSHA safety guidelines.
Routine Maintenance – carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, concrete work, welding, painting, flooring, snow removal, preventive maintenance as well as other associated maintenance task.
Equipment Operation – Hand tools, power tools, vehicles, skid steer, excavating equipment, trailers, wood working equipment, welders, plasma cutter, fork lift, bucket truck
Communication – The candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and citizens.
A general knowledge in the tasks and equipment listed within the essential functions is a plus. Previous maintenance experience preferred. The candidate must have the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, follow instructions, and must be computer literate.
Applicants shall have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school education and must have a valid VA driver’s license. Candidate will have to go through a criminal background check and drug screening.
The position is a full-time position with a starting salary of $47,680 annually. Benefits package includes: health and vision insurance, dental insurance, paid leave, paid holidays, life insurance and Virginia Retirement System.
The Facilities Management Department offers a Career Development Program after one year of employment. The position works a regular schedule of Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm while rotating on call once per month once trained.
