EMS Provider/Support Firefighter
This position is responsible protective emergency service work with primary focus on EMS treatment and transport, rescue, supports fire suppression, and public safety activities; does related work as required. Work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves an element of personal danger. Work is performed under regular supervision.

The Organization
Augusta County Fire-Rescue is a combination department that covers 967 square miles with a population of 75,144. There are four County-owned stations. We support the County-wide volunteer emergency response system and provide career staffing in nine volunteer stations. We have two shifts, a 24/48 and a 12 hour Monday-Friday work schedule.

Education & Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED. Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications for position as established by the Department and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Must possess and maintain an appropriate driver's license, valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must maintain an acceptable driving record. Must possess and maintain the following certifications; a minimum of EMT-B, CPR, Firefighter I, Hazmat Operations, NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 Certifications. EMS Provider/Support Firefighter will be required to obtain and maintain additional training regarding a good working knowledge of Incident Management System, Accountability Systems, Medical Monitoring and Rehabilitation of Fire Suppression Personnel, Vehicle Extrication, and other associated skills necessary to perform emergency services work. All Fire-Rescue Department employees are subject to non-restrictive 24-hour call-back, irregular work hours, and various workstation assignments. Fire-Rescue Department positions require a background investigation. Must successfully complete and maintain the Fire-Rescue Department’s medical physical based on the NFPA.

Employment contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check, drug test, and a department physical exam based on the NFPA 1582 Standard initially and yearly thereafter.
