The County of Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Accounting Manager in the Finance Department. This position will be responsible for accounting and related preparation and/or maintenance of fiscal records. This position will be responsible for but not limited to:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department with direct oversight over Accounts payable, Accounts receivable and Accountant personnel.
• Monthly reconciling the general ledger with Treasurer’s records
• Coordinate and conduct year-end close out procedures and year-end audit process to ensure audit compliance.
• Assists the Director with preparation of the annual audit to include preparation of financial reports.
• Assists the Director with preparation of the annual budget.
• Review finance and accounting operations annually and provide recommendations for internal controls to ensure compliance with the audit standards.
• Preparing and reviewing journal entries
• Supervise preparation of the monthly financial reports for departments.
• Maintain the fixed asset inventory
• Maintaining fiscal files and related records
• Prepare state and federal reports and ensure timely filing
• Balances and reviews capital related account and maintains infrastructure reports
• Other related tasks as required
The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting
• Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities
• Ability to reconcile accounts
• Understanding of GAAP accounting Principles
• Ability to generate and review monthly reports
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude in MS Office, databases and other accounting software
• Hands-on experience with excel spreadsheets to include creating, data entry, formulas and pivot tables
• Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
• High level of integrity and trustworthiness
• Strong written and oral communication, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
• Deadline driven with excellent time management skills
• Organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and without supervision when required.
Education:
Candidates will have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with major course work in accounting or business. Thorough knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, and procedures and considerable experience in accounting and/or public finance. CPA license preferred.
This position has a salary range of $70,780 - $110,009 based on experience and qualifications. The County offers an excellent fringe benefit package including retirement, group life insurance, health insurance, and a paid time off program.
