Job Ad: Programs Coordinator

The County of Augusta has an opening for a Programs Coordinator in its Parks and Recreation Department. This staff position will be tasked with programming for the senior adult population and for intergenerational trips. Responsibility will be primarily planning, developing, and implementing recreational and social activities, informational programs, and trips. This position will also occasionally assist with department-wide special events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A general knowledge of recreational and leisure based activities for senior adults (age 50 and over). Qualified applicant must be able to establish effective working relationships with community, volunteers, general public, and other staff. Applicant must be creative and motivated and possess the ability to manage details.

Applicants shall have a general knowledge of and familiarity with computers, MS Office software, and other office equipment. Applicants must have a valid VA driver’s license.

Education & Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, event management, hospitality, sociology, and/or social work.

This position is a part time position (24-28 hours/week) with no County benefits. Starting wage is $12.50/hour. The work schedule is weekday hours with an average of one weekend per calendar quarter.

Candidate will have to go through a criminal background check and drug screening. DMV driving record will be requested at time of employment.
