Updated 11/27/19

The Augusta County Board of Supervisors has heard from many concerned citizens about the possibility of Augusta County’s consideration to become a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County. While the Board has a regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, November 26, this issue is not on the agenda and will not be discussed that night.

Due to the interest in this topic, the Board has decided to schedule a special meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 6 pm to hear comments from the public concerning this issue. Because of the anticipated number of citizens who are planning to attend this meeting, the meeting location will be changed to Stuarts Draft High School auditorium in order to accommodate increased attendance. The Board encourages citizens who are interested in this issue to attend on December 4, 2019.

***  Updates  ****

Citizens who wish to speak are asked to sign-up using the online form. If individuals are unable to attend, the online form can be used to submit any comments for the Board to consider. Speakers can also sign-up at the high school on December 4. Staff will be on-hand to help with sign-up.

Important information for special meeting attendees and speakers:

  • Doors to the auditorium will open at 5:30 pm.
  • Speakers will be limited to three (3) minutes in an effort to hear from more citizens.
  • Please be prepared with your comments and be as concise as possible. Groups are encouraged to assign one speaker to voice a unified message.
