The Augusta County Commissioner of the Revenue, George Price, has announced a community meeting to discuss the recently completed property reassessment process. The meeting aims to gather public feedback, share insights, and explore ideas for improving the process in the future. Residents are encouraged to attend on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Smith West Conference Room at the Government Center.

This meeting comes on the heels of the Board of Equalization’s conclusion of public hearings in October. Commissioner Price sees this as an opportunity to debrief the reassessment process and engage directly with the community. By fostering an open dialogue, the goal is to identify elements of the reassessment that worked well and to consider constructive suggestions for improvement.

“The reassessment process is critical to ensuring fairness and equity in property taxation,” said Price. “We value the input of our residents and believe their feedback can help us refine our approach moving forward. This meeting is an opportunity for us to listen and learn from those directly affected by the process.”

During the meeting, the commissioner will provide an overview of the reassessment timeline, methodologies used, and the challenges encountered. Attendees will have the chance to share their thoughts on what aspects of the process were effective and suggest areas for improvement.

Residents who participated in the reassessment appeal process or Board of Equalization hearings, as well as those who wish to better understand the process, are particularly encouraged to attend. The feedback gathered will help shape future reassessment efforts to ensure they are transparent, efficient, and equitable.
