The Augusta County Department of Emergency Management is launching Augusta Alerts, a new emergency mass notification system designed to keep residents informed and safe during critical events.
Powered by Everbridge, Augusta Alerts allows county officials to send rapid notifications via phone call, text message and email. The system can quickly reach targeted geographic areas, delivering vital updates to thousands of residents and visitors during emergencies.
Augusta Alerts will replace CodeRed on November 15, 2025. To continue receiving emergency notifications, individuals must register for Augusta Alerts before that date. On November 3, 2025, a final CodeRed message will be sent to current subscribers encouraging them to make the switch. Augusta Alerts is a free service for residents and visitors.
“Our priority is the safety and security of our community,” said Patrick Lam, Augusta County Emergency Management Coordinator. “This new system will allow us to communicate more effectively and efficiently with the public during emergencies, ensuring that everyone has the information they need to stay safe.”
Augusta Alerts gives users flexibility to choose how they receive alerts—by phone, text, or email—and what types of notifications they prefer. Alerts may include severe weather warnings, public safety updates, and important community announcements.
