Augusta County Emergency Management has been informed of a cyber incident experienced by OnSolve, the provider of CodeRED, a platform the County previously used to facilitate its emergency alert system. On November 22, 2025, Augusta County was notified that user data from the decommissioned CodeRED platform was compromised in OnSolve’s incident, including email addresses and passwords stored in cleartext.
Individuals who previously enrolled in the CodeRED system are urged to update any accounts that used the same or similar login credentials and immediately change those passwords. Augusta County encourages all users to follow best practices by using strong, unique passwords for every account.
Individuals with questions about their CodeRed accounts should contact CodeRED at crsupport@crisis24.com.
OnSolve has confirmed that Augusta County’s legacy CodeRED platform has been fully decommissioned. Although we no longer use CodeRED, Augusta County takes cybersecurity very seriously. We are committed to providing any information that OnSolve shares about its CodeRED incident.
“The county takes any potential compromise of personal information very seriously. We encourage anyone who used the former system to update passwords they may have reused elsewhere,” said Patrick Lam, Augusta County Emergency Management Coordinator. “Our current alert system, Augusta Alerts, uses advanced encryption and security measures to protect your information, and residents can continue to sign up with confidence."
Augusta County’s current alert platform, Augusta Alerts powered by Everbridge, was not affected. Everbridge uses leading-edge security protections, including industry-standard encryption and secure credential storage, to safeguard user information and reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
