New High Mileage Tax Adjustment Offered

Is your vehicle a high-miler? You could qualify for a tax adjustment and save money.

If you own a vehicle with higher-than-average mileage, you may be eligible for a tax adjustment to more accurately reflect fair market value. 

Eligibility Criteria
Your vehicle must be:

  • A passenger car, pickup or panel truck, or motorcycle

  • Above the minimum mileage threshold for its model year

Documentation Required

  • You must provide third-party documentation such as a state inspection receipt or service/repair invoice.

  • Odometer photos are not accepted.

How to Apply (Deadline: May 1, 2026)

  1. Apply online at ceruleangov.com.

  2. Submit your form and high mileage documentation by mail or in person with your personal property filing return.

  3. Bring your vehicle to the Government Center in Verona for a visual inspection.

    The Commissioner of the Revenue can inspect your vehicle Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. Inspections will also be offered during several community events.

    • Tuesday, April 28, 6-8pm

    • Thursday, April 30, 6-8pm

In 2025, Commissioner of the Revenue George Price launched this High Mileage Adjustment Program in accordance with Section 58.1-3503(A)(3) of the Code of Virginia. Any individual or business that owned personal property located in Augusta County on January 1, 2026, should receive a Personal Property Tax statement in the mail. Return your verified or corrected personal property statement on or before May 1, 2026.
