Public Safety Announcement: Open Burning Advisory

Due to ongoing drought conditions, prolonged high temperatures, low relative humidity, critically low dead-fuel moisture, and the potential for elevated wind gusts, our area is currently at an increased risk for wildfires.

Despite recent limited rainfall in some locations, forests and grasslands across the County remain dry and highly susceptible to ignition and rapid fire spread. These conditions can cause even small, controlled burns to quickly become dangerous and uncontrollable.

Residents are strongly urged to avoid all open burning at this time. This includes burning of debris, brush, leaves, and other outdoor materials. Any ignition source—whether intentional or accidental—can pose a serious threat to life, property, and natural resources under current conditions.

Please take the following precautions:

  • Refrain from outdoor burning until conditions improve.
  • Properly dispose of smoking materials.
  • Avoid activities that may produce sparks, such as welding or using equipment on dry vegetation.
  • Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately to local emergency services.

While this is not a burn ban, local officials will continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates as necessary. Your cooperation is essential in helping prevent wildfires and keeping our community safe.

Stay informed, stay cautious, and help protect our community.
