DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Promoting Safe and Stable Families (PSSF) program is operated under an initial five year grant period. The primary goals of the PSSF position are to educate the public on available community services, assist clients in accessing services, help to prevent foster care for at-risk families and assist in the reunification of children with their families. Provides support to social workers and social work supervisor with client services, training and recruitment, client visitation and transportation, computer and manual record keeping and reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of social service program requirements; thorough knowledge of automated data processing systems; ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and clients; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to organize work schedule, manage workload and meet deadlines; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; skill in the use of a personal computer; must have writing skills to complete reports, home studies and case narratives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with experience or course work in child development, mental health, health and basic computer skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia and acceptable background checks are required. Bi-lingual skills helpful.
