Home MenuLitter Control Program Rules and Regulations
You have been placed into the Litter Control Program (LCP) by pre-charge diversion, court order, through agreement or by referral through Valley Alcohol Safety Action Program, Blue Ridge Court Services, or District 12 Probation and Parole to complete your community service hours. The following are important conditions that are required for all participants placed in the Litter Control Program. Please review them carefully.
- Report to all scheduled appointments as directed by the Litter Control Program Coordinator. Failure to do so could result in your removal from the program.
- Behave in a courteous and cooperative manner when interacting with LCP staff. You will not be verbally or physically abusive to any member of the LCP staff or other government employees.
- You will not report to the Litter Control Program under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. If you do so, your Probation Officer or deferral officer will be notified and you will be removed from the Litter Control Program. Such removal could result in having your case returned to Court.
- The Litter Control Program is generally not dependent on weather conditions. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the program will still operate indoors. Appear for all scheduled times unless contacted by the Litter Control Officer.
- It is your responsibility to dress accordingly based on the weather conditions and your task at hand (litter pick-up). Safety vests and gloves will be issued to assist you in your assignment. Wearing a belt is required to safely carry extra bags while on the side of the road.
- Water will be provided to maintain hydration. In addition, a half hour (30 minutes) lunch break will be allotted. You can bring a brown bag lunch for your lunch break.
- We operate every Friday and Saturday. We meet at the Staunton Walmart at 9am. We operate every Sunday and meet at the Waynesboro Walmart at 9am. Please report 5 minutes early to make sure you are able to locate us. Look for a grey 15-passenger van that says “Litter Control” on the side. If you have any questions, please call or text the numbers below.
