While the campground is in a rural area, there are a number of attractions nearby. Find all you need to know on these local tourism sites!

Are there pull through sites?
Many of our sites are very open, grassy and spacious. While we don’t have paved pull-through sites, a lot of our sites are easy to maneuver into. Campsites located on the ends of the loops generally offer the easiest access.

Are there quiet hours in the campground or limits on generator usage?
Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. and generators should not be run during these hours. All bright lights and noise levels should be reduced in consideration of other campers.

Are there showers available?
There are two bathhouses in the main campground that offer hot showers for anyone camping.

Can I also put a tent up on a campsite with an RV?
We allow one RV/trailer (any axled camping unit) and one tent on any RV site with water and electric hookups, or two tents if no axled camping unit is on the site. Tent sites are restricted to tents only (no axled camping units) and we allow up to two tents on these sites.

Can I bring my ATV, go-cart or golf cart with me?
Electric golf carts are allowed but all gas-powered off-road vehicles, golf carts, go-carts, etc. are prohibited.
- All golf carts must be registered at the Visitor Center and the owner must provide proof of insurance for the electric golf cart.
- Only licensed drivers 16 and older are allowed to operate golf carts.
- Please drive only on established roads.
- Golf carts operated after dark must have lights.No golf carts are to be operated during quiet hours.
- Please watch for pedestrians and yield to them.Anyone caught driving in an unsafe manner will lose cart driving privileges.

Can I change my camping reservation to another date?
Standing reservations may not be changed to another date. This would constitute a cancellation and established fees would apply. The original reservation must be cancelled and a reservation made for the new dates.

Can I invite guests to my campsite?
Guests are allowed on campsites but must depart by 10 p.m. each day.

Can I move the picnic table or fire ring on a campsite?
One picnic table and one fire ring are provided at each campsite and included in the established camping fee. You may move the picnic table on your site as needed, but please be sure it is back within your site’s boundaries before you leave. Please do not remove picnic tables from other campsites without checking with park staff; if someone else has reserved that site, you will be asked to return their table. If you need to move your fire ring, please be sure to place it on a spot that has been previously used for fires, rather than on healthy grass. All fires must be contained within the fire rings, must not be left unattended and must be out before retiring for the night.

Can I store my camper at the campground?
We offer storage on campsites for $11 per night. Storage is not available on Friday or Saturday nights. The two-week maximum stay limit applies. We do not offer long term or off-season camper storage.

Can I use the dump station if I’m not camping there?
No, the dump station is for our registered campers' use only. The dumping of raw sewage or gray water anywhere else in the park is prohibited by State code.

Do the campsites have both a 50 amp and 30 amp hookup or are they only one or the other?
We have a variety of electric hookups in our campground. There are 96 sites with 30 amp electric hookups, 12 sites with 50 amp electric hookups and 36 sites with both 30 amp and 50 amp electric hookups.

How can I make a camping reservation?
Camping reservations can be made online, in person or by phone at 540-245-5753. Advanced reservations are encouraged but walk-ups are welcomed if space is available to accommodate requests.
Payment in full is required at the time you make the reservation. All fees are on a per site, per night basis and cover eight people from the same household and two parked vehicles (in addition to the camping unit) per site. Under no circumstances will reservations be tentatively held.
- Each site must be reserved by a person staying on that site. A person cannot hold reservations for multiple sites over the same dates.
- Only the individual whose name the reservation is under can formally check in to the site. Identification can be requested at any time by staff.

How far is the closet store or gas station?
The Visitor Center does have a small camp store with a small selection of snacks, drinks, camping essentials and souvenirs. There are a few country stores with gas stations within five miles of the park. The nearest town with restaurants, shops and a grocery store is Bridgewater, which is within ten miles of the park.

How long can I camp for? Do you offer monthly or seasonal campsites?
There is a two-week, 14 consecutive night limit for all RV site reservations, including those utilizing our camper storage program. For tent sites, there is a five consecutive night limit for all reservations. All households are limited to 21 nights total in a 30-day period, including reservations utilizing the camper storage program.

How many vehicles can be parked at the campsite?
You may have two vehicles per campsite, in addition to your camping unit on RV sites. Please ensure all vehicles are parked within your campsite boundary and are not blocking the campground roads. Additional vehicles, including those of day guests, must park in overflow parking at the visitor center.

How old do you need to be to rent a campsite?
A person must be at least 21 years of age to reserve a campsite and occupy it without other adults present for a period of more than 8 hours.

Is firewood available at the campground? Can I bring my own firewood?
Firewood is offered for sale at the campground in the Visitor Center during open hours and from the Camp Hosts on site F1 when the Visitor Center is closed. We currently allow outside firewood from within the state of Virginia. To help prevent the spread of invasive pests, it must all be burned or removed and not left behind when your stay is over. Is use of the pool included in my camping fee?
The pool is managed separately from the campground, so there is a separate charge for using the pool. Please see our pool page for fees and hours.

What time is check-in and check-out? What are the general procedures?
Campsite check-in time is 2 p.m. and check-out time is 12 p.m. Please be sure you are in the site assigned; you will be asked to move if you are in the wrong site. Any requests for early check-ins or late check-outs must come to our office. You may check-in any time after 2 p.m. If you arrive after our Visitor Center closes and need assistance, please see the Camp Hosts on site F1.

Where are the utilities located for the campsites?
The pedestals containing the electric hookups, marked with the site numbers, are located at the center of the back boundary of the campsites. On the A, B, C and J Loops, these pedestals are shared back-to-back between the sites. Water spigots are located in proximity to the pedestals. On the D Loop each site has its own electric pedestal and water spigots are located between neighboring sites. On the E and F Loops each site has its own electric pedestal and water spigot. On the tent sites the post marked with the site number is the center of the back boundary of the campsite.

Where do I put trash from my campsite?
Please placed bagged trash in the dumpster at the front of the park or unbagged trash in the proper trash containers within the campground. Please do not leave trash out overnight and do not place trash bags on picnic tables or in fire rings.
