*** Please Do Not Call 9-1-1 to report that you are conducting a controlled burn ***

Remember, the burning law is in effect from February 15 - April 30 each year**. During this time, you may not begin burning until 4pm and cannot add any new fuel to the fire after Midnight.

Prior to conducting a controlled burn in Augusta County, you will need to contact the Augusta County Emergency Communications Center at 540-245-5061 to provide the location of the burn. The information you provide will be logged into our computer system and will be accessible in the event a neighbor or passerby would happen to report a fire in the area.

** The burn law is subject to change at any time so please consult with the Virginia Department of Forestry for additional restrictions on outdoor burning. The Virginia Department of Forestry office may be contacted at (540) 363-7002.
