Below is a list of volunteer opportunities available with the Augusta County Parks and Recreation Department.  As our community events continue to draw larger crowds each year, we are in need of more volunteers to help us with these events. Volunteers allow us to better serve event participants and are very important to the overall success of the community events. If you would like to be involved in one of our upcoming events, you can contact us at 540-245-5727.

Senior Health Fair: This event is held in November at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona. Volunteers would assist at the Information table handing out water bottles, snacks, and answering general questions. They would also direct vendors to set up locations, assist vendors as they carry in their displays, walk around during the event checking on vendors and help with light clean-up at the end of the event. Please contact Pam Mowery to help with this event.

Sweet Dreams Festival: This event is typically held the 1st Saturday in June from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Stuarts Draft Park. This event celebrates Stuarts Draft as the “Sweetest place to live in Virginia”. Volunteers are needed to help with the various contests, Bingo, children’s arts and crafts tent, parking, stage entertainment, and at the vendor Hospitality Tent. Please contact Courtney Ambrose to help with this event.

Fall Spooktacular at Natural Chimneys: This event occurs in late October from 12pm-7:00pm at Natural Chimneys Park. It will include trick-or-treating, costumes, and other family fun. Contact Vicki York to assist with this event.
