COVID-19 Social Services Procedures

•Effective, Monday, July 6, 2020, Shenandoah Valley Social Services will be open to the public from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To help our clients continue to do business with SVSS we have provided a fact sheet with pertinent information and/or new processes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

The Shenandoah Valley Social Services (SVSS) provides human services assistance to citizens experiencing financial hardship, neglect and abuse in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County. The mission of SVSS is to promote self-reliance and the protection of citizens through comm­unity-based services.

Through two divisions, the agency provides:

  • Benefits Programs: Medical, financial, energy and food assistance to the citizens of Augusta County, and the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. These benefits are paid through federal, state, and local funds.
  • Service Programs: Child protective and prevention services, adult protective services, adult services, volunteer payee services, daycare services, employment services, foster care and adoption.
