  • The County of Augusta Treasurer's office is committed to aggressively pursuing the collection of delinquent taxes. Unpaid taxes for which no alternative arrangements have been made or for which arrangements have been made but not met will be subject to collection procedures.
  • Our collection methods include, but not limited to, tax liens, bank liens, DMV vehicle registration withholding and the automatic withholding of state income tax refunds or lottery winnings.

Real Estate

  • Properties which have accumulated one or more years of unpaid tax are subject to judicial sale.

Personal Property

  • Vehicle Registration Withholdings: DMV vehicle registrations may be withheld by law if the owner of the vehicle has outstanding personal property taxes (including penalty and/or interest), and a fee for removal of this withholding will be added to the tax due (Code of Virginia §46.2-754)
