The Staunton Augusta Waynesboro Animal Shelter (SAWAS) has provided local animal control services since September 2011 for
SAWAS takes in all stray, abandoned, and owner surrendered animals from the three locations. SAWAS strives to improve the lives of people and pets in the community and offers programs such as low-cost spay/neuter, pet food assistance, and responsible pet re-homing services.

- Laundry detergent (for high efficiency washers)
- Bleach
- Newspapers (without inserts)
- Towels, blankets, bedspreads, blankets, carpet remnants, rugs
- Dry or canned adult dog / cat food
- Dry kitten and puppy food
- Canned milk for kittens (KMR)
- Kitty litter
- Grooming items
- Flea spray
- Dog / cat toys and treats
- Stainless steel food bowls
